Horse Lunging

Lunge Your Horse Tips
Lunging your horse can be used as daily exercise, pre-riding warm up, as a lameness check or for basic training of a young horse or re-schooling a horse.

Lunge Equipment for Horse Training
Lunge with the right equipment: splint boots with bell boots/wraps, a properly fitted halter or a lunge cavason and surcingle with side reins, lightweight lunge whip and a lunge line you can work with comfortably. Protective Boots will protect the horse`s legs from injury if they happen to clip or

over reach. What you don`t need is for your horse to injure itself and then remember the experience as being a negative one.

The lunge whip, by the way, is an aid only and not your primary training tool. Try to lunge in a round pen or an enclosed area of some sort with rounded corners, and flat ground. Remember the goal is to keep control of your horse at all times, so don’t try this in an area without fencing.

Lunge your horse with `praise`, a `pat` and a `treat` = Respect
